2.7.3 Graphitic Corrosion of Cast Iron

	Graphitic corrosion is a selective destruction of the cast iron. Thereby, the electro- chemical less noble iron part of the iron-carbon alloy is corroded and the more precious graphite part remains. The material loses its strength thereby and can no longer be placed under mechanical load.
